  • fréj cleo fashion awards 2012

Yesterday I got the privilege to shoot fréj's very first ever runway show. They were invited to participate in Cleo Indonesia's Fashion Awards 2012, and they had to showcase six looks. They decided to do a pencil collection, and they titled their show: pencivilization. It took them months to prepare for the show: sawing, glueing and assembling (and sharpening) each and every pencil by hand. In addition, they also designed all the gowns and footwear. It was fascinating but tiring at the same time. We made a couple of videos together: one for their profile, and one for the backdrop of the runway show. Well actually, tired is an understatement. By the end of it, we were all mentally and physically exhausted by the amount of work that needed to be done to put on a five minute show. I have a new found respect to all designers and fashion houses who does this every few months. But then again they had the manpower to do it, this was literally done by two people (with the minor help from a few people once in a while).

The most excruciating thing was the hours and minutes before the show, where I literally prayed that the show went well and nothing gets broken in the middle of the show, and that no one went tumbling or wobbling down the runway. When the show started, I was literally screaming from the press pit - much to the dismay of the other photographers and videographers - it was just so exciting to finally see everything come together! Thank god of all fashion that it went smoothly... the video and music was synced so nicely (thank you to the amazing choreographer, multimedia and music team!), and I could actually here some claps from the audience.

And to add to the already awesome show, fréj won the award for the Most Promising Accessories Brand for 2012! \^o^/ I did another scream from the press pit (I'm sure another scream would mean a monopod flying towards my head), and did a bit of jumping and dancing after the show :D
Congrats fréj for the successful show and the award! I am so proud to be part of it and to be part of your journey from the very beginning! Much love, love and more love! (btw, my partner, Steve, is getting hitched this Saturday, and I'll be wearing a gown made by Jeff :D)
